What are the usual symptoms that occur with a foot bruise?
An individual with a foot bruise might experience other symptoms related to the foot such as:
- Foot or toe pain
- Damaged or lacerated skin on the foot
- Foot swelling
- Difficulty walking or running
- Foot tingling or numbness
Other symptoms that might arise include the following:
- Ankle pain, inflammation or swelling
- Poor wound healing
- Tender or painful areas
- Bleeding gums
- Nosebleed
- Joint pain
- Bruising on the hands, legs, or other parts of the body
- Heavy menstrual flow
- Flu-like symptoms
When to seek medical care
In some instances, such as cases involving major trauma or complications of an underlying condition, a foot bruise might be accompanied by symptoms that indicate a serious condition. It is vital to seek immediate medical care if any of these are present:
- Confusion or changes in the level of consciousness such as passing out or becoming unresponsive
- Deformity or abrupt loss of function or sensation in the foot
- Stiff neck
- Seizures
- Intense pain, sensation of pressure or swelling in the affected area
- Petechiae
- Abrupt, severe dizziness
- Vomiting blood or blood-streaked stools
