A shooting ordeal between a man in distress and police officers resulted in a fatality. Several shots were fired at an individual who was in distress and causing havoc in his subsidized housing unit. According to neighbors, the man who seems troubled was living alone.
Shooting ordeal
The identity of the man was not revealed by the police to the public. It is believed that he is 58 years old and of Haitian origin. It was recently discovered that he was facing eviction from his apartment. The neighbors knew him as Pierre. After the incident, Quebec’s police watchdog is currently investigating the case.
The police received a call regarding a man in distress at an apartment building on Robillard Ave. and St-Andre St. Upon arrival at the location, they found a man causing havoc in his apartment and destroying everything while holding a screwdriver in each hand.
The police attempted to subdue the man using a Taser and plastic bullets but were not successful. It remains unclear what prompted the officers to fire several shots using their service revolvers.
Around 7:30 PM, the mas was in cardiac arrest. The paramedics attempted to administer CPR to the man. He was transported to a healthcare facility and but declared dead at around 9:45 PM.
