As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, protocols are implemented in an attempt to control the spread. Those who go against these protocols are issued violation tickets. The police in B.C. issued up to 86 tickets to individuals for going against the provincial health orders along with 65 tickets for violating the federal Quarantine Act.
The police agencies in B.C. have handed out nearly 100 tickets to individuals and businesses for going against the provincial health orders or the federal Quarantine Act. Sadly, only a small number of those tickets have been paid for.
The violating tickets were issued under the COVID-19 Related Measures Act for going against the provincial health protocols. Nine tickets worth $2,300 were handed out for violating the food and liquor serving premises orders, while 32 tickets worth $2,300 were given to business owners or organizers who were directly disobeying the order on gatherings and events.
Police agencies also enforce the federal Quarantine Act. At the start of the pandemic until November 27, they issued up to 65 tickets for violations against the act which reaches a total of around $71,000.
